Kathy Sue Nolan, age 64 of Eldred, passed away on March 13, 2026 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on September 29, 1961 in Jerseyville, the daughter of Lyndell and Genevieve Kraushaar Cox.
Kathy is survived by her children, Misty (Gene) Knapp of Eldred, Luke (Ashley) Nolan of Carrollton, Katie Steinacher of Carrollton, and Brittany (Ryan) Juhl of Eldred; her companion, Brett Ballinger of Eldred; nine grandchildren, Austin (Tessa) Knapp, Brendon Knapp, Emma and Ethan Nolan, Nola and Kye Steinacher, Raylan, Riggs and Rory Juhl; two great-grandchildren, Cooper and Elena Knapp; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Carolyn Crum, and a brother, Kyle Cox.
She owned and operated Kathy’s Corner from June 2009 until May 2024, where she was beloved for her catfish fritters and was voted best fish in Greene County in 2019. A devoted mother and grandmother, Kathy never missed her children’s or grandchildren’s events. She was a steadfast supporter of community and sporting events, and she found joy in playing slot machines, Emma’s angel food cake, Brett’s horse racing, a Moto Pepsi, and mushrooming. Above all, her family was the center of her life, and she dedicated herself to being present for them every day.
