Kansas City, MO
Kathy Ann Manning, née Kresin, age 68, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on March 5, 2026. Born on May 30, 1957, in Kansas City, she was the beloved daughter of the late Rose Mary Kresin Denzer and Eugene Kresin. Baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church, her faith remained a quiet guide throughout her life.
Kathy graduated from Center High School. For 45 years she was happily married to Fred Manning, whom she called the love of her life. Together they raised a family that was the center of her world. She is survived by her daughter Jessica Manning, her son Matthew Manning and his wife Bethany Vroom, her sisters Cindy Whitford and Jan Lindsey, her mother-in-law Alberta Manning, brothers-in-law Stanley (Butch) Manning and wife Debbie, and Todd Manning, as well as her treasured grandson Lawrence “Larry” Fultz and many nieces and nephews.
Family was the heart of Kathy’s life. She cherished every moment with her grandson Larry, especially their magical holiday ride on the Polar Express. Her love of trains began in childhood with visits to her grandparents in Norborne, Missouri. She enjoyed camping, boating, and fishing, often gathering with loved ones around a campfire. An accomplished cook, she was known for her exceptional omelets, homemade rolls, and the ravioli she prepared each Christmas for the Manning family. For twenty years she hosted Christmas for her sisters and their families, creating warm traditions that will be remembered fondly.
Kathy embraced life with energy and enthusiasm. She loved attending the Renaissance Fair and SantaCaliGon Days, listening to 1960s music, especially Paul McCartney and Peter Noone of Herman’s Hermits, and sharing concert outings with her daughter Jessica. She supported her children’s passions fully, serving as a Girl Scout leader for Jessica and faithfully taking Matthew to BMX races several times a week. Her lifelong affection for animals began when she was a girl bringing stray dogs home from school. Whether exploring new places by car, swimming with her children, or simply enjoying a game of Candy Crush, Kathy lived with a vibrant spirit that touched everyone around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
