November 24, 1945— March 10, 2026
Bountiful, UT
Kathryn Tennie Summers Green, known lovingly as Kathy, Tuff, Tootsie, Mo, and Grammie, passed away peacefully at her home in Bountiful, Utah, on March 10, 2026.
Born on November 24, 1945, in Tremonton, Utah, to Marion and Edythe (Davis) Summers, Kathy married her beloved husband, Steven D. Green, on September 7, 1967, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together they raised five children and cherished eleven grandchildren. Above all, Kathy found her greatest joy in her roles as wife, mother, and grandmother, devoting herself to caring for her family and creating lasting memories with them.
A woman of grace and talent, Kathy excelled in dance from an early age. She performed with the Bear River Drill Team in high school and later served as president of the Aggiettes Drill Team while attending Utah State University. Her poise and accomplishments earned her titles as attendant to the Peach Queen, Dairy Princess, Miss Wheat and Beet Days in 1963, Miss Box Elder County in 1965, and talent winner in the Miss Utah Scholarship pageant. She graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Physical Education and later earned a Master’s in Education.
Kathy taught at Box Elder High School, Clearfield High School, and Viewmont High School, where she advised the Clearfield Dance Team and the Viewmont Vykelles Drill Team. She also taught health and created the Impact Team, a program dedicated to building character, fostering friendship and responsibility, and serving elementary schools. Her students affectionately called her Mother Green, and she left a profound, positive influence on countless young lives. Kathy’s love for her family shone through cherished traditions, especially annual trips to Disneyland with her children and later her grandchildren, where she delighted in riding roller coasters and sharing the magic of Small World. She also took her Impact Team students to Disneyland for leadership conferences and visits to the Holocaust Museum. At home, she enjoyed singing, dancing, making seasonal crafts with her children, baking cookies, brownies, and her famous Fantasy Fudge at Christmas, and sewing beautiful, unique Halloween costumes and dance outfits for her daughters and their teams.
Kathy is survived by her devoted husband, Steve, her children Allyson Smith (Gavin), Doug Green (Caroline), Marianne Sexton (John), Mindy Jo Greene (Logan), Matthew Green (Danielle), and her eleven grandchildren. She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
