Ben Rosser officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.Kathryn Rice Thompson, age 96 from Ashland, AL, passed away peacefully on Saturday March 14, 2026. Kathryn will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother as well as a loving neighbor and friend of all in the Ashland community.Kathryn was born on May 14, 1929, in Linville, AL. At the age of 16, she met her husband of 72 years, Charles Thompson (deceased) and moved to East Point, GA where she worked as a nurse for 30 years at South Fulton Hospital. After retiring, she and Charles moved back to Ashland to be close to family and friends. She was an active member of The First Baptist Church in Ashland.She is survived by her son, Michael and Maureen Thompson of Cumming, GA; daughter-in-law, Donna Thompson; grandchildren, Christian Steele, Christina (Gregory) Brett and Elizabeth (Brian) Beebe; great-grandchildren, Madeline (Jack) Clark, Landon Steele, Mia Steele and Joseph Brett;; siblings, Bobby Rice, James Rice, Barbara Rice and Gayle Chandler; plus several nieces, nephews, and extended family.She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Irvin Thompson; parents, Olen and Bertha Rice; son, Dennis Thompson; and 2 brothers, Harold Rice and Sherrell Rice.Pallbearers will be Gregory Brett, Brian Beebe, Adam Chandler, Landon Steele, Eddie Branch and Donny Dodd.Her visitation will take place before the service on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at First Baptist Church of Ashland from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M.Send online condolences to benefieldfuneralhome.comBenefield Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangements.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
