East Hartford, CT
Kathryn L. Kiro, 82, of East Hartford, passed away on March 12, 2026, surrounded by her family following a brief medical emergency. Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, on August 22, 1943, Kathy graduated from East Hartford High School and remained a lifelong resident of the town.
She married Richard J. Kiro on September 12, 1960, and together they raised three children during their 26-year marriage. Kathy worked for many years as a customer service representative for Sears in Manchester while raising her family. She later became the cheerful front desk receptionist at Electro Methods in South Windsor, where she was beloved by both employees and customers for 30 years until her retirement. She maintained many close friendships from her Sears days, gathering regularly for luncheons and special occasions.
Kathy had a deep love for animals, especially cows, and filled her home with a cherished collection of cow-themed décor. An avid reader who enjoyed cribbage and other games, she found her greatest joy in time spent with family and friends, particularly her grandchildren. She took great pride in creating a park-like setting around her home, where she loved to relax by her patio and fish pond while watching the neighborhood wildlife.
She is survived by her daughter Lisa Kiro and husband Bob Holman, daughter Cindy DeAngelis and partner John Koenig, son Richard M. Kiro and partner Audrey Oakes, and her five beloved grandchildren, Garrett, Joshua, Michael, Shelby, and Haley.
