September 7, 1945 March 5, 2026

Marquette, MI

Kathryn H. Osier, 80, of Marquette, passed away on March 5, 2026, at her home. Born on September 7, 1945, in Hancock, Michigan, to Edmond T. and Edith A. (Maki) Stefaniak, she graduated from A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer in 1963 and later earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Northern Michigan University.

It was during high school in Bessemer that Kathryn met the love of her life, Thomas H. Osier. They married on August 19, 1967, and built a life together centered on family, education, and the outdoors. Kathryn began her career as a teacher at Marquette Senior High School and later served as a teacher’s aide at Cherry Creek Elementary, Whitman Elementary, and Graveraet Elementary schools. She had a deep love for nature, faithfully feeding the birds, squirrels, and deer in her yard, and cherished daily walks with her dogs. She found joy in working jigsaw puzzles, reading, collecting owl figurines, clowns, and wolf art, and taking scenic drives around Presque Isle with Tom. An avid golfer in her younger years, she also enjoyed attending NMU sporting events and sharing meals at their favorite local restaurant, the Bodega. Above all, she treasured her family and remained actively involved in the lives of her grandchildren.

Kathryn was a longtime member of the Cedar Savages social and off-road club, the Zonta Club of Marquette, and Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She and Tom were faithful members of Messiah Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years.

She is survived by her children, Thomas J. (Cristine) Osier of Marquette, Ann (Todd) Madely of Clay, New York, and Michael (Erika) Osier of Traunik; her grandchildren, Owen, William, and Megan; her brothers, Larry (Cheryl) Stefaniak, Ted (Edie) Stefaniak, and Stephen Stefaniak; her nieces, Stacy, Allison, and Laurie; her nephews, Ted and Chris; and special friends, Dave and Karen Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edmond and Edith Stefaniak; her husband, Thomas H. Osier; and her sister-in-law, Doris Stefaniak.
