Kathleen Shawn Wimmer

Kathleen Shawn Wimmer passed peacefully in her sleep on March 4, 2026, at her home in Malta. Born to John and Phyllis Wimmer in the summer of 1969, she lived an independent and blessed life with Down syndrome, which she carried not as a limitation but as her superpower. Her courageous journey was filled with love and the steadfast support of family and community, allowing her to embrace life fully.

As a young woman, Kathleen participated in Special Olympics, enjoyed riding her bike, and formed warm connections throughout her community. She had a deep love for 80s music, movies, and television shows, especially The Golden Girls, and she delighted those around her with her funny phrases and joyful spirit. Her presence was a genuine light in every life she touched.

She is survived by her sisters Nancy, Mary, and Patty, her brothers Roger and Lyle, her niece and caretaker Ashley along with Anthony, Asa, and Malachi, as well as countless cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Kathleen will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her light will continue to shine in their hearts, where she will remain their guardian angel forever.
