August 22, 1967— March 6, 2026
Colorado Springs, CO
Kathleen “Kathy” Moore of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away peacefully at home on March 6, 2026, at the age of 68. Born on August 22, 1957, in San Bernardino, California, to Harold and Marion Kissel, she spent her early childhood moving with her Air Force family to the Philippines and New Jersey before settling in Cheyenne, Wyoming, at age six. There, she and her older brother Steve and younger sister Linda grew up in the countryside north of town, helping with the family’s summer business at Mountain Meadow Cabins outside Centennial. She graduated from Central High School in Cheyenne and later attended Oral Roberts University and the University of Wyoming, where she studied communications.
In the mid-1990s, Kathy moved to her beloved Colorado Springs, home of Pikes Peak and the Air Force Academy. Always curious and eager to learn, she built a diverse career in communications, recruitment, sales, customer service, and real estate. She eventually fulfilled a childhood dream by becoming a flight attendant, a role that perfectly suited her warm and friendly nature. Over the years she enjoyed selling Avon products, custom jewelry, and doTerra essential oils, and she and her husband John were longtime vendors at American Classics Marketplace, where she loved to volunteer.
Kathy had a deep passion for travel, archaeology, and ancient civilizations. She was a devoted Denver Broncos and Colorado sports fan and made frequent visits to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, where she held a special affection for the giraffes. Above all, family was the center of her life. She was devoted to her husband John, whom she married in 1997, her children and grandchildren, and her beloved dogs Sparky, Kelsey, Jazzie, and Tanner.
She is survived by her husband John Moore of Colorado Springs; her daughter Heather (Steve) Sandifer of Santee, California; her son Chris (Sara) Hall of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and her stepdaughters Jennifer Moore of Angola, New York, Caitie (Jon) Allis of Orchard Park, New York, and Andrea Shae Moore of Buffalo, New York. Affectionately known as “Nana,” she also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren Caden and Cash Hall, Emma and Madelyn Sandifer, Kaidyn Lazar, Prestyn and Brooklyn Zamito, Ryann, Bentley and Noah Wall, Jessie and Walker Allis, and Rosalie Lou Borowiak. She is further survived by her father Hal Kissel of Cheyenne, her brother Steve Kissel of Cheyenne, and her sister Linda (Ray) Beattie of San Diego, California.
