Preserve forever →Kathleen "Katie" Marie McLogan
Battle Creek, MI
Katie McLogan, age 48, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on March 12, 2026. Born on May 28, 1977, in Coldwater, Michigan, she lived a life marked by resilience, compassion, faith, and a deep commitment to helping others.
Katie graduated from Jackson High School in 1995. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Michigan State University in 2003 and later completed her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Spring Arbor University in 2024. In her twenties, she faced a life-threatening brain tumor and underwent major surgery, an experience many described as miraculous. That journey, along with her subsequent epilepsy, shaped her strength and her desire to support others through their struggles. For many years she volunteered with Elara Home Health Care Service, the Humane Society, as a tutor for elementary students in Spring Arbor, and as a greeter at Arbor Church. In 2021, a life-changing brain surgery enabled her to regain her independence, obtain her driver’s license, complete her master’s degree, and return to full-time work. For the past year, she served as a social worker with Senior Care Partners (PACE), where she advocated for older adults with empathy, intelligence, and unwavering dedication.
Those who knew Katie will remember her as a survivor, warrior, empath, advocate, sober friend, music lover, and devoted cat mom. She faced every challenge with courage and used her experiences to uplift those around her. Her compassion made people feel truly heard, valued, and understood. She brought warmth, wit, and a wonderful sense of humor to even the hardest moments. Katie loved music and concerts, meaningful conversations, movies with friends, and the quiet companionship of her beloved cats. In recent months, she volunteered alongside her cousin Luke at Tim Tebow’s “Night to Shine” event at Southridge Church in Kalamazoo, continuing her lifelong pattern of bringing joy and service to others.
Katie is survived by her parents, Tim McLogan and Sheila McLogan of Jackson, Michigan, and her brother, Kevin McLogan of Florida, as well as extended family, friends, coworkers, and many whose lives were brighter because of her presence. Her life was a testament to resilience, compassion, and courage. Though her time here was far too short, the light she carried continues in the hearts of all she touched.
