August 16, 1947— March 6, 2026
Enumclaw, WA
Kathleen Alyce Klein, lovingly known as Kate, passed away on March 6, 2026. Born on August 16, 1947, in Bellingham, Washington, Kate was a lifelong resident of the state whose strength, kindness, and loving heart left a lasting impression on everyone she knew.
A devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, Kate was the steadfast center of her family. She was admired for always putting others first and was affectionately voted Best Mom and Nana. For many years she worked as a railroad attendant with Amtrak in Seattle, where her warmth and generosity turned colleagues into lifelong friends.
Kate found joy in simple pleasures, including tending her garden, watching her favorite soap opera, spending time with her beloved dog Auggie, and indulging in sweets, shopping, and the occasional casino visit. Even in difficult times, her resilience and spirit remained unbroken.
She is survived by her daughter, Tobie Johnston; sons, Gary Barker and Rod Martinson; brothers, Don Klein and Richard Klein; sisters, Joanie Miller and Pat Klein; and her cherished grandchildren, Evan Barker, Spencer Martinson, Stephen Jr., Logan Martinson, Megan Barker, Audrey Martinson, and Jayleen Johnston. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Shirley Klein.
