Kathleen Harden, 84, of Terre Haute, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026, in the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care. Born on December 2, 1941, in Terre Haute to Harry Ramer and Georgia Rader Ramer, she lived a life defined by dedication to education, family, and community.
Kathleen graduated from Wiley High School and earned her master’s degree from Indiana State University. She taught for 28 years in the Vigo County School Corporation, touching the lives of countless students at Rankin, Crawford, and Farrington Grove schools. A passionate advocate for young people, she founded the first girls’ swimming team in Terre Haute at the YMCA. She also served as executive officer for the Home Builders’ Association and Associated Building Contractors during the 1980s and co-owned Wabash Valley Copier with her husband. A life member of both the NEA and ISTA, she remained deeply committed to the teaching profession throughout her life.
She is survived by her sons, Glen Harden (Maureen) and Allan Harden (Robin); her sister, Marilyn Burroughs; grandchildren Maebry Harden, Camden Harden (Maggie), Liam Harden, and Megan Harden; and several nieces and nephews. Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Harden, Jr., and her parents.
