Newington, CT
Kathleen (Boisvert) Ferraris, 98, of Newington, passed away on March 10, 2026. Born in Hartford to Felix and Johanna (Markowski) Boisvert, she attended Our Lady of Sorrows School and Hartford High School. She worked in the studio of Hartford photographer Mike Mazziotte before marrying her high school sweetheart, James C. Ferraris, Sr. The couple shared 71 years of marriage before James passed in 2021. Their engraved wedding bands, inscribed “Always yours,” spoke to a bond that has now been joyfully renewed.
Family was the center of Kathleen’s life. She cherished taking her children on day trips to orchards, parks, and the beach, as well as winter skating at Elizabeth Park and sledding at Pope Park. She continued these beloved traditions with her three granddaughters, proudly attending their activities and celebrating their accomplishments. Summer vacations held special meaning for her, particularly the family trips to Cape Cod.
Kathleen is survived by her daughter Jo-Anne Sobolewski and husband Charles, son James Ferraris, Jr. and wife Lexy, and daughter Karen Ribnicky; her grandchildren Dr. Nina Ferraris, Angela Tucker and husband Christopher, and Christina Phelan; and her five great-grandchildren James, Owen, and Charlie Tucker and Kate and Maggie Phelan. She also leaves her sister Phyllis Turner, sister-in-law Janet Ferraris, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son-in-law Tom Ribnicky.
Her greatest joy was being with her family and doing things for them. Many warm memories remain of her baking, especially her cherished lily and crescent cookies that became family favorites. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
