Brewer, 79, of Elk Point, South Dakota passed away on Tuesday, March 3rd, 2026 at Wel-life Assisted Living in Elk Point with her daughter by her side.Kathleen was born on June 24, 1946 in Akron, Iowa to Lawrence and Opal Brewer. She graduated from Elk Point High School in 1964. She attended college in Lincoln, Nebraska to be a Food Services Director. She worked as the director of Food Service at Osmond, NE Public Schools.She returned to Elk Point in 1981 with her three daughters, Jodi, Janiel, and Julie. She was the cook at the Alcester Steakhouse for many years. She later worked as the food service director at Elk Point-Jefferson Schools. Kathi married Jesse Mahoney on July 2, 2010.Survivors are her three daughters, Jodi (Jeff) Zeller of Vermillion; Janiel (Rodney) Austin of Hot Springs, SD, and Julie Happe (Kodi Charvat) of Greely, Colo.; 8 grandchildren, Drake (Reanna) Zeller and their two children, Owen and Noah; Katie (Troy) Grassel, and their four children, Porter, Grady, Baby girl and Baby Boy; Brock (Karly) Zeller and their two children, Beau and Brey; Nathan (Kendra) Austin; Ryan (Ashley) Austin, and their two children, Ryker and Raylee; Mitchell (Bailey) Austin and their baby; Matthew Johnson and his children, Kaylee, Jericho, Gracelyn, Hena, Emma, and Nolan; and Nicholas Johnson; two brothers, Darrell (Bernetta) Brewer of Elk Point, and Lane "Pudge" (Laura) Brewer of Moyie Springs, ID;She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Wesley and Russell Brewer, and her husband, Jesse Mahoney.The Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, March 9th 2026 at Kober Funeral Home in Elk Point. Visitation will be from 12 to 1 p.m., with a prayer service to follow at 1:00 p.m. There will be no burial at this time.Kober Funeral Home of Elk Point has been entrusted with the service.
