Kathie M. Korman

Kathie M. Korman, age 75, of Alexandria, passed away on March 11, 2026, at home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Born on July 4, 1950, in Blue Earth to Donald and Phyllis (Harper) Millmann, she grew up in the Delavan area, graduating from high school in 1968. She went on to attend St. Cloud State College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Education while working as an executive secretary for the vice president.

While in college, Kathie married Douglas Korman on June 25, 1971, at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church in Delavan. Early in their marriage, she and Doug enjoyed weekend camping trips and visits with friends in Colorado. The couple later settled in Alexandria, where Kathie worked as a secretary for New York Life Insurance and as a long-term substitute teacher at Parkers Prairie High School. She then began a 36-year career as a business education teacher at Long Prairie High School, retiring in 2011.

In retirement, Kathie devoted herself to her grandchildren, who were the center of her world. She made sure they learned to swim, cheerfully provided transportation to lessons and sports practices, and hosted an annual Princess Party for her granddaughters that became a cherished tradition. The family enjoyed summer gatherings at Kamp Dels, where her grandson Lucas took pride in watching over her in the pool. She also served as confirmation sponsor for her grandson Austin, a role she held with deep honor. Kathie shared a close friendship with her neighbor Sharon Slack, enjoying daily walks and talks as well as outings to local concerts and Minnesota Twins games.

She will be remembered for her quiet, youthful spirit and her sometimes sarcastic sense of humor. Though she was a bit gullible and often the good-natured target of jokes, Kathie had a special gift for bringing laughter and joy to everyone around her. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Ernest Abbas, and brother George. Kathie is survived by her husband of 54 years, Doug; sons Jeffrey (Carrie) Korman of Miltona and Eric Korman of Alexandria; grandchildren Austin Johnson of Minneapolis, Lucas and McKenzie Korman of Miltona, and Tessa and Erica Korman of Alexandria; siblings Thomas (Julie) Millmann, Donna (Jim) Beckmann, Beverly (Robert) Wilson—with whom she shared a deep and precious bond—Calvin (Connie) Millmann, and Kari (Scott) Schultz; and many nieces and nephews, especially her treasured niece Chelsey Wilson.
