Katherine Shyanne McClendon Black
November 14, 1990— March 9, 2026
De Queen, AR
Katherine Shyanne McClendon Black, age 35, of De Queen, Arkansas, passed away on March 9, 2026, at Hospice of Texarkana, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on November 11, 1990, in De Queen to Paul and Gaylene Cox McClendon, Shyanne grew up participating in beauty pageants and cheering for De Queen and Broken Bow. She was crowned Miss Broken Bow and graduated from Broken Bow High School in 2009. A talented dancer, she taught at the Broken Bow School of Dance. Later, she became a cosmetologist and the owner of McCurtain Co. Soaps and Bitty’s Bums Diaper Co., where she handcrafted cloth diapers that were sold locally and as far away as Australia. Shyanne also found joy in crocheting, creating beanies for 41 Ministries. She cherished active days with her sons—watching them skateboard, swimming, and spending hours playing Pokémon GO together. Above all, she treasured her time with family, especially her boys.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, LD and Elizabeth Cox.
Shyanne leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, Ryker Clark and Bowie James Black of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; her mother, Gaylene McClendon of De Queen, Arkansas; her father, Paul McClendon; her brothers and sister-in-law, Michael Scott and Jamie McClendon of De Queen and Samuel Seth McClendon of Dierks, Arkansas; her uncles and aunts, Leslie and Sheila Cox and Travis and Carla Cox, all of De Queen; her nephew, Jaxin McClendon; her cousin, Cody and Nicole Cox of Nash, Texas; the father of her sons, Justin Black of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; and many extended cousins and dear friends.
