Katherine "Susanne" Ogden

Katherine “Susanne” Ogden, 93, of Winona Lake, Indiana, passed away on March 13, 2026, at Grace Village in Winona Lake. Born on June 8, 1932, in Huntington County, Indiana, to Augustus Clay and Frieda E. (Wertenberger) Ogden, she grew up on the family farm where she developed a lifelong love of animals and the outdoors.

A 1950 graduate of Laketon High School, Susanne earned her bachelor’s degree from Manchester College and her master’s degree in education from Ball State University. She taught in the LaPorte County schools for several years, where her dedication and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on generations of students.

Deeply committed to her faith, she was a longtime member of the Ijamsville United Methodist Church and the North Webster Methodist Church. She faithfully attended prayer and Bible study seminars and educational lectures throughout her life. An active member of the Audubon Society, Susanne found great joy in bird watching, caring for her cats, and spending time in nature. She cherished her summers on Little Barbie Lake in North Webster and enjoyed wintering in Florida. In her younger years, she proudly showed grand champion hogs at the Indiana State Fair, an accomplishment she remembered with fondness.

She is survived by numerous extended family members and her dearest friend, Donna Lambert of Warsaw. She was preceded in death by her parents.
