Katherine Mary TaylorKatherine Mary Taylor, age 85, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2026.Katherine was born December 16, 1940 at home in Council Bluffs to the late Phillip and Elizabeth (Batten) Massouris. She contracted polio at a young age and spent nine months in an iron lung, though never letting the effects of that illness stop her in life. Katherine graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1960.Katherine married Michael B. Taylor on December 17, 1966. Together, they raised three children, made endless memories at their cabin in North Bend, and enjoyed time spent with their family and friends.In addition to her parents, Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Taylor; and sons, Brent Taylor and Shawn Taylor. She is survived by her son, Phillip (Carleen) Taylor of Council Bluffs; 7 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.Katherine will be laid to rest beside her husband at Walnut Hill Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Nebraska Polio Survivors Association.The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Prairie Gate for their excellent care.Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 10:30 a.m., at Cutler-O'Neill Funeral Home.
