Katherine Jean Wiggins

Katherine Jean Wiggins, known to all as Kathy, passed away on March 9, 2026, at her home in Walterboro at the age of 52. Born on August 18, 1973, in Walterboro, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Harry Rudolph Beckett, Sr. and the late Patricia Herndon Way. Kathy spent much of her childhood with her grandparents, the late Brice and Katherine Herndon, attending Evergreen Christian Church with them near the old family homestead. Those early years left a deep and lasting impression on her, shaping her profound appreciation for family. She found great joy in catfishing and in spending peaceful days on the boat at Otter Island.

She is survived by her husband of thirty-two years, Carl E. Wiggins; their three children, Preston Wiggins (Amanda) of Round O, Ashley Wiggins of Jamestown, and Emily Wiggins of Walterboro; her brother, Harry Rudolph Beckett of Walterboro; her sister, Donna Reynolds (Keith) of Walterboro; and her honorary sisters, Sandy Stanfield (Allen) and Brandy Cadelaria (Pete). Kathy also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren, Stetson, Harrison, Malia, Aria, and Noah, as well as three brothers-in-law, Miles, Hammy, and Adam Wiggins; a sister-in-law, Melissa Delk; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Carter Greene.
