She was born on August 15, 1938, in Hillsboro, Ohio, the daughter of the late Roscoe and Marie (Pauley) Dillon.Kate was a hardworking and caring woman who spent many years serving others as a home health aide. She was also well known in the community for managing the Krispy Kreme donut shop in Hillsboro, where many remember her friendly smile and welcoming spirit. Through her work and daily life, Kate built many lasting friendships and touched the lives of those around her.Kate enjoyed life's simple pleasures. She loved going out to eat with her family, watching her favorite soap operas on television, and spending quiet time relaxing on her porch. She took great pride in her home and especially enjoyed landscaping and keeping her yard looking beautiful. Gardening was one of her favorite pastimes, and she found joy in tending to her flowers and growing tomatoes each year.Above all else, Kate's greatest love was her family. She cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and her home was always a place of warmth, laughter, and love. The memories she created with them will be treasured for generations.Kate will be remembered for her kindness, her strong work ethic, and the deep love she had for her family. Her presence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.Kate is survived by her five children, Angie Hilterbran Willey of Hillsboro, Lynn Hilterbran Stewart of Hillsboro, Scott (Tina) Hilterbran of Hillsboro, Richie (Missy) Hilterbran of Hillsboro, and Janet Pinkerton of New Vienna; eleven grandchildren, Brittany Willey Oxley, Alisha (Thorn) Davidson/Gardener, Seth (Erica) Fenner, Shane Fenner, Billy Hilterbran, Joey (Michelle) Hilterbran, Meghan Hilterbran, Austin Hilterbran, Tessa (Jake) Gentile, Kaelyn (Justin Carpenter) Hilterbran, Kiersten (Austin Johnson) Hilterbran, Becky Souther and Brian Pinkerton; 16 great grandchildren, Hallie, Jayden, Abasi Eno, Brooklyn, Gage, Trevor, Jozlyne, Katie, Ricky, Kaylee, Willow, Guinevere, Mia, Camden, Marley, and Luke; special niece, Laura Kern; father of two great grandchildren, Jeff Wallace, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Hilterbran; son, Bernie Hilterbran; two grandsons, Len Oxley and David Pinkerton; two great grandsons, Jack Martin Oxley and Brayden Shane Fenner; three sons-in-law, Owen Willey, Larry Stewart, and David Pinkerton; 10 siblings, Ruth Cox, John Dillon, David Dillon, Wanda Robinson, Jane Champagne, Marilyn Huddleston, Carolyn Miller, Junior Dillon, Francis Dillon, and Delores Varley.Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday March 13, 2026, at the Carpenter's House of Prayer, 7450 Fairground Rd., Hillsboro, OH 45133. Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday March 14, 2026, at the church. Burial services will follow on Saturday in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
