April 7, 1941— March 13, 2026
Woodstock, GA
Karl Herman Nussbaum, formerly of Floyds Knobs and Henryville, Indiana, and later of Woodstock, Georgia, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026.
Karl was an avid poker player who cherished evenings spent around the table with friends. He was well known for his custom-made shirts that proudly displayed his love for the game and his winning streaks. He also had a deep affection for horses and, before moving to Georgia, enjoyed the freedom of trail riding in the outdoors.
A lifetime member of the Greater Louisville Training Club, Karl achieved a notable milestone in 1978 when he became the second club member to earn the prestigious OTCH title with his Border Collie, Ben. Ben was ranked as the number one Border Collie in the country for several years. Karl’s breeding program, DREAMALOT, produced some of the most accomplished and sought-after dogs of that era, with his dogs’ offspring still appearing in pedigrees today.
Karl brought a zest for life and a fun-loving spirit to everyone he met. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sheryle Nussbaum, his sisters Claudia, Janice, and Jeanine, and his brother Joey. He is survived by his son, Joe (Sonya) Nussbaum, grandson Alex (Annslea) Nussbaum, great-granddaughter Annabella Nussbaum, sister Robin, and brother Mark.
