Karen Y. Hites

Karen Y. Hites (née Ackerman) passed away on March 11, 2026.

A devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, Karen touched many lives with her kindness and warmth. She is survived by her son, James A. Hites, and her daughter, Karole L. Phillips, who is married to Erik J. Phillips. She was a proud and loving grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her great joy.

Karen attended Akron University and spent her professional career at First National Bank before retiring. A longtime resident of Mogadore, Ohio, she later moved to the Amherst, Ohio area. She was a member of Springfield Church of the Brethren, where she found fulfillment through fellowship and service. She enjoyed participating in the Red Hat Society, was an active member of a hiking club, and cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Karen also shared many years of companionship and friendship with Tom Friend. She leaves behind many dear friends who will remember her for her generosity, friendship, and caring spirit. She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
