St. Francisville, LA
Karen Lamy Puckett of St. Francisville, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, at the age of 69, surrounded by her family after a short but graceful battle with brain cancer. Born on September 14, 1956, in Baton Rouge, she was the second of nine children born to Edward Theodore Lamy Jr. and Jimmy Lucille Lamy. A graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy and the Baton Rouge School of Business, Karen enjoyed a long and distinguished career in the private sector before devoting 30 years to the State of Louisiana, where she retired as director of the Comprehensive Public Training Program. In that role, she taught leadership skills and professional development to countless state employees.
In 1985, Karen and her husband of 43 years, Don, moved to St. Francisville, where they built their home and raised their children. They became active members of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, and Karen served as a lector while contributing to many other administrative and auxiliary roles. Above all, she lived a life of quiet selflessness in service to her family and friends. A devoted wife, she offered her children boundless and unconditional love and support, and she delighted in her grandchildren with a joy that could not be contained. She was also a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, godmother, sister-in-law, niece, best friend, and neighbor.
Karen’s passions included photography, birdwatching, hiking and camping in the mountains, pressing flowers, cooking, solving crosswords, reading, and playing pickleball. Yet nothing brought her greater happiness than time spent with those she loved. Even during her illness, she remained strong, brave, and full of faith, embodying grace and quiet strength until the end.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Jimmy Lamy, and her son, Adam Joseph Puckett. Karen is survived by her husband, Don Puckett; her children, Erin Puckett, Lauren Hartwig (Greg), Alyssa Robicheaux (Luke), and Benjamin Puckett; her six grandchildren, Noah Puckett, Eli Puckett, Jane Francis Robicheaux, Jude Robicheaux, Poppy Hartwig, and Lucille Robicheaux; and her siblings, Cynthia Losavio (Steve), Lisa Dawson (David), Allyson Lamy, Eileen Stradley (Paul), Eddie Lamy (Janice), Laura Machado (Abel), Jimmy Lamy (Julie), and Celeste Thornhill (Mike).
