November 23, 1945— March 12, 2026
Fair Haven, VT
Karen Kathleen (King) Williams, 80, of Fair Haven, passed away on March 12, 2026, at her home.
Born on November 23, 1945, in Rutland, she was the daughter of Walter “Chub” and Wilma (Hart) King. Karen graduated from Fair Haven Union High School in 1963. That same year, in August, she married the love of her life, David “Chuck” Williams. Together they raised two children.
Karen worked for the General Electric Company for 27 years, retiring in 2006. In retirement, she found joy in substitute teaching in the Fair Haven schools until 2024. She was an active member of the Fair Haven Rescue Squad, serving as treasurer, and gave more than 25 years of her time to the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #50 in Castleton. She generously volunteered at countless community functions.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Bedard of Pittsford; her son, Bruce Williams of Fair Haven; her sister, Jan Ellis of West Haven; her brothers, Garry King of Mechanicsville, New York, and Terry King of Castleton; six grandchildren, Amy, Brian, Celina, Evan, Luke, and Isaiah; five great-grandchildren, Collin, Julian, Ruby, Tanner, and Nolan; and several nieces and nephews. Karen was predeceased by her husband, David B. “Chuck” “Nasty” Williams, on March 15, 2016. She faced cancer first in 2007 and again in 2024, meeting both battles with remarkable spirit, grace, and her signature humor.
