Karen Jean Hunt

Karen Jean Hunt

Saskatoon, SK

Karen Hunt passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, surrounded by her family. Born on March 22, 1949, in Rosetown, Saskatchewan, to Hughie and Jean (Stretch) Coakwell, she married Alan Dawson in 1968 and moved to Saskatoon, where she raised their three children, Leanne, Shane, and Dallas. A devoted homemaker, she also managed the books for Alan’s business. Their marriage ended in 1984. In 1987 she met Ken Hunt, and the two married in 2005.

Karen’s greatest joy was time spent with her family. She loved hosting barbecues and family suppers, and Christmas was her favourite holiday because it brought everyone together. In 2008 she became a grandmother to Jaidyn and embraced the role wholeheartedly, caring for her during her toddler and school years while Leanne worked. The special bond they shared remained a highlight of her life. In the summer months, Karen and Ken could often be found in their backyard gazebo, playing dice, surrounded by her carefully tended flower beds and yard ornaments. She also enjoyed crocheting and travelling with Ken to places such as Puerto Vallarta, Las Vegas, and British Columbia to visit Dallas and Christina.

Karen is forever loved and deeply missed by her children Leanne and Shane, her son Dallas and his partner Christina, and her beloved granddaughter Jaidyn. She also leaves behind her stepson Francis (Pam) and grandsons Owen and Wyatt, her siblings Grant (Sharon), Lloyd (Marilyn), Herb (Shelly), Rob (Lisa), Bonnie (Jim), and Arnie (Tracy), her in-laws Dale (Connie) and Ralph (Wendy), and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Ken, her parents Hughie and Jean, her parents-in-law George and Elva, her stepson Michael, the father of her children Alan, and several other dear family members.

To her family, Karen was the steadfast presence they could always lean on for advice, support, and a listening ear. She was the best mother to her children and the most loving grandmother to Jaidyn. She will be missed always and forever.
