Karen Elizabeth Hyde

Karen Elizabeth Orndorff Jenkins Hyde, 75, of Edenton, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026 at Hertford Rehabilitation and Health Care Center of Hertford, NC. She was born August 22, 1950 in Clarksburg, WV, a daughter of the late Howard Orndorff and Rose Lee Sturms Orndorff McDaniel.

Karen is survived by her son Johnnie Wayne Jenkins and his wife Teresa, stepchildren Mike Hyde, David Hyde, Timothy Hyde, Valerie Sarao, Jason Hyde, Enoch Hyde, Tonya Hyde and Shawn Hyde. Siblings Debbie Messenger, Melody Weekley, Doris Miller and David Sean McDaniel. As well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Karen is preceded in death by her late husband, Enoch Stephen Hyde Jr. on July 21, 2002; sister Melinda Bennett and stepdaughter Enette Weaver.

Karen graduated from Bristol High School in 1968. Prior to her illness, she worked for Prime Time Retirement Center in Edenton, NC. She was an avid reader of books, attending auctions and working crossword puzzles. Most of all Karen loved spending time with family, friends and her two special pets Bobo and Gabby.

Karen was a strong, kind, and caring person. She will be sadly missed.

Per Karen’s instructions, she will be a direct cremation. A celebration to honor her life will be held in West Virginia at a later date.
