September 5, 1944— March 12, 2026
Centerville, UT
Karen Bowen Alvey passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, after a life marked by selfless service and quiet strength. Born on September 5, 1944, to Robert and Ruth Bowen, she entered the world alongside her identical twin sister and lifelong best friend, Sharon. Known throughout Davis County as the “Bowen twins,” the sisters shared an inseparable bond of deep love and friendship that remained a cherished gift throughout Karen’s life.
In 1964, Karen married Larry Tingey, with whom she had two daughters, Jacque and Debra. Following their divorce, she married the love of her life, Ronald Alvey, in 1978. Ron brought two children from a previous marriage, Sid Alvey and Jacquie Jones, and together they welcomed a daughter, Mandy. Karen was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints whose compassionate, caring, and humble nature touched everyone she met. Soft-spoken and gentle, she carried herself with grace while demonstrating remarkable inner strength. A natural caregiver, she placed the needs of her family above her own, creating a warm and welcoming home that became a favorite gathering place for loved ones.
Her greatest joy was her family, and she remained a steadfast source of love and support through life’s challenges. In her later years, as she faced the difficulties of dementia, she was tenderly cared for by her devoted husband, Ron, who remained faithfully by her side until the end. Karen lived her faith in Christ through every act of kindness, leaving behind a legacy of grace, humility, and unconditional love.
She is survived by her brother, Robert Bowen Jr. (Dixie), her sister, Sharon Blackburn, her daughters Jacque Martineau, Debra Robertson, and Mandy Martin, and her stepchildren Sid Alvey and Jacquie Jones. She was also blessed with six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her tremendous joy. She was preceded in death by her parents and her younger brother, Scotty.
