She was born on October 16, 1946 in Covington, Kentucky, parents Vernon E. and Catherine (Roach) Stephens. She was married to her loving husband, Rich Benson, for 58 wonderful years.Karen was known for her talkative, fun, and feisty personality. She spent years working various jobs, but her most valuable job to her was being a homemaker. Family meant everything to Karen. She devoted her life to caring for those she loved and creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and understanding. She loved deeply and gave endlessly to the people she cared about. Karen enjoyed numerous years going to her favorite places: the beach at Treasure Island, Florida and Conley bottoms Lake Cumberland, Kentucky. Karen enjoyed taking all of her family boating, camping, and making special memories at the Lake. Karen loved traveling to different places, enjoyed making certain crafts, baking wedding cakes, and spending time with her kids, grandkids, and especially her great-grandchildren.Karen will be lovingly remembered by her son Rick (Angie) Benson; her nieces/nephew Pamela Gentry, Jeff (Holly) Hosbrook, and Kelly (Trim) Hosbrook; her grandchildren Stephen (Blake) Benson, Taylor (Boone) Haley, Corey (Frances) Benson, Camron Benson, Abby Benson, and Christian Benson; several great-grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Rich Benson, her parents Vernon and Catherine Stephens, her siblings JoAnn (Robert Hanke) Robbins and Johnny Robbins, and her grandchild Kyle Noggler.Friends and family will remember her for her big smile, sense of humor, spunk, and for the countless ways she touched the lives of others. Though she is no longer with us, Karen's love, compassion, and spirit will continue to guide and comfort those she leaves behind. Her spirit will continue to live on in the stories we share, the lessons she taught us, and the love that will always remain. Her life was a reminder that the greatest legacy we can leave is the love we give to others.A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday March 21st from 1pm-5pm at St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, small food and drinks will be provided.
