Karen Ann Spragins Loster passed away on March 6, 2026. Born in Gwynedd, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late John Harris Spragins and the late Marion Hurley Spragins. She was the beloved wife of 63 years to Robert K. Loster. Karen was the loving mother of Elizabeth Marie Loster Brown and her husband Joseph H. Brown Jr., and was predeceased by a son who passed away at birth. She was the sister of the late Marion Ann Neubert and her husband Warren E. Neubert. She is survived by her grandchildren Jackie (Dylan) Arblaster, Amanda (Anthony) Vickery, Joe (Abby) Brown, Matthew (Lindsay) Brown, Samantha (Jason) Brown, Casey Brown, and Jake Brown, as well as ten great-grandchildren: Gabbie and Osiris Arblaster, Connor, Anna, Aurora and Amelia Vickery, Alanna, Delilah and Lilly Brown, and Jason Kress. She was also predeceased by her three beloved dogs, Koko 1, Koko 2, and Koko 3.
A graduate of Gwynedd Mercy College Class of 1962, Karen dedicated much of her life to animals. She worked for more than 15 years as a certified veterinary technician at Gwynedd Veterinary Hospital, caring for countless dogs with skill and compassion. She later partnered with the Bucks County SPCA, where she took in and provided a safe, loving home for more than 50 elderly dogs in their final years. For over 20 years, she taught evening dog obedience classes at Hatboro Horsham High School and remained active with the American Kennel Club, showing her German Shepherds and serving as a judge at dog shows.
In her later years, Karen served as a crossing guard for the Warminster Police Department, worked as a lunch lady at Log College Middle School, and assisted at the front desk of the Warminster Police Station. She was known for riding her bicycle throughout her neighborhood and spending countless hours tending her beloved gardens each spring and summer.
Her family extends deep gratitude to the Interim Hospice team, especially Jordyn, Heather, Jessica, Becky, and Michelle, who cared for Karen with the tenderness of daughters. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Bucks County SPCA in her memory.
