Kaedren Daniel Kirkendall, age 21, passed from this life on March 10, 2026. He was born on June 20, 2004.
From early childhood, Kaedren was filled with energy and curiosity. By age four he was already a voracious learner, repeatedly rereading his encyclopedia and able to name the continent of any country. By five he had founded Zutiki Island, a little-known independent nation with a sophisticated political system located in his bedroom. By six he was coding computers and had taught himself some algebra. By eight he and his mother had finished reading the entire Bible together. By fifteen, a professional software developer observed that Kaedren knew more than he did, “because Kaedren wants to know everything.” In his later teen years, a psychiatrist who reviewed cognitive testing done while Kaedren was severely ill said he was the smartest patient with whom he had worked.
Though introverted by nature, Kaedren possessed a dry, offbeat wit that delighted friends and strangers alike. His family collected dozens of “Kaedrenisms” that captured his unique perspective. A deep thinker, he took the decision to follow Jesus very seriously and was baptized into Christ on January 6, 2017. He was deeply cherished in the house church he grew up attending.
Kaedren enjoyed bike riding and long walks, especially in the beauty of God’s creation in Colorado. He laughed with his brothers and parents, created algorithm-based mathematical artwork, wrestled with his dad and brothers on the trampoline, loved making sweets with his mother, and was difficult to beat at strategy games. He is survived by his parents, Kylan and Kristie Kirkendall; his younger brothers, Kian and Koen; his grandparents, Glen and Leanna Kirkendall; and his grandmother, Letha Gray. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James Gray.
