New Ulm, MN
Justin Lee Nelson, age 53, of New Ulm and formerly of Madelia, Minnesota, died on March 9, 2026. Born on July 2, 1972, in Madelia, he graduated with high honors from Madelia High School in the Class of 1990. Justin built a life rooted in hard work and quiet reliability. For many years he worked as a truck driver, both locally and over the road, always eager for the next trip with a faithful co-pilot by his side—whether one of his four-legged friends, his children Ty and Sadie, or his partner Tammy. More recently, he served as a Mechanical Equipment Operator with 3M.
Justin found deep joy in the outdoors as a hunter and fisherman. He cherished time spent with family and friends, bringing laughter wherever he went. Skilled and creative, he loved building things and fixing whatever needed repair. In 2016 he met Tammy Gingles, and the two quickly fell in love, beginning a devoted life together. Dependable and generous, Justin was often the first person called upon by those who needed him. He gave fully of himself as a father, son, partner, and friend, always ready to help those he cared about.
He is survived by his parents, Bruce and Barbara Nelson of Madelia; his children, Ty (Alayna) Nelson and Sadie (Devin K.) Nelson of Mankato; his partner, Tammy Gingles and her daughters, Hannah and Abigail Baum of New Ulm; his grandmother, Donna Jean Peterson of Mankato; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl and Clara Nelson, grandfather Calvin Glaman, and many other beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
