Julio Miranda, age 84, of Cheltenham, Pennsylvania, passed away on March 10, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born on July 11, 1941, in Puerto Rico, Julio was the son of Antulio Miranda Rodriguez and Maximina Rivera Martinez, who taught him the enduring values of honest work, respect, and deep love for family. He completed his early education in Santurce before moving to Philadelphia in 1953 with his mother. He continued his studies at McCall and Penn Treaty schools and graduated from Mastbaum Vocational School in 1960. That same year, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving with bravery, discipline, and dedication.
In December 1962, Julio married Leonor, and together they raised four sons: Edwin, Michael, Julio, and Mario. He later welcomed Ivan Miranda, Diana Miranda, and stepdaughter Marilyn Santiago. His children remained his greatest pride and motivation throughout his life. In 1970, he returned with his family to Cidra, Puerto Rico, settling in the Rincon neighborhood, where he worked as an auto mechanic and cabinet-maker. In 1980, he moved back to Philadelphia and built a successful entrepreneurial career, establishing several businesses including gas stations, a jewelry store, a perfume shop, notary offices, a title agency, and a license and registration service. He approached every endeavor with determination, skill, and integrity.
On September 30, 2000, Julio married Carmen Perez, who became his devoted companion for more than twenty-five years. In 2016, he found faith in his Savior, though he was soon diagnosed with dementia. Even as the illness affected his later years, the love of his family never wavered. They cared for him with the same devotion he had always shown them. Julio’s greatest treasure was his family.
He is survived by his wife Carmen, his children Edwin, Michael, Julio, Mario, Ivan, Diana, Marilyn Santiago, Paul Perez, and Nyvette Perez, as well as his grandchildren Carla, Brian, Vasti, Alejandro, Kevin, Priscilla, Jennifer, Jacqueline, Caroline, Mateo, Miranda, Nicholas, Zoe, and Austin, and his great-grandchildren Cristian, Julian, Serenity, Christian, Isaiah, and Noah.
