September 18, 1942— March 6, 2026
Minneapolis, MN
Julie Marie Larson, age 83, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026. Born on September 18, 1942, in Minneapolis, she was the oldest of four siblings. Julie graduated in 1960 from Stanbrook Hall High School in Duluth as a postulant, a school now known as St. Scholastica. She later earned an associate degree from Anoka-Ramsey Community College, where she performed in several theater productions and held lead roles. In 1998, she fulfilled a lifelong dream by earning a degree in Theology from the University of St. Catherine, graduating with honors. An avid writer, Julie was the author of the book Mixed Nuts.
At 18, Julie met Donald, then in the Air Force ROTC program at St. Thomas, when she gave him a wink across the room at a Christian singles dance. They married the following year and shared 62 years together, raising six children. Julie lived a life dedicated to social justice and peace. Alongside Donald, a Vietnam veteran, she was active in Women Against Military Madness (WAMM), Veterans for Peace, and with her beloved “Peace People.” Even at 82, she organized weekly peace vigils near her long-term care facility, sharing her message of peace, love, and kindness. Passionate, creative, and playful, she was always looking for ways to make people smile.
Julie is survived by her children Timothy (Kim), Patricia, Christopher, Kathryn, Nikole (Tamara Jo), and Benjamin (Florabel); grandchildren Holt, Noah, Cassandra, Matthew, Kiara, Elizabeth, Vincent, Ryan, and Isabelle; great-grandchildren Everly and Nova; siblings Susie (Jim), Jimmy, and Patrick; and many others she welcomed and loved as her own, including Merosil, Sabrina, Aitana, Vincent, and Derek, along with her Peace People.
