January 1, 1970— March 9, 2026
Mishawaka, IN
Juliann (Hemmerlein) Huff, 56, of Mishawaka, passed away on March 9, 2026, at St. Joseph Health System-Mishawaka. Born on January 1, 1970, in Mishawaka to the late Arthur and Shirley (Montague) Hemmerlein, Julie earned a Master’s degree in Education and devoted 32 years to teaching, 31 of them at Jefferson Middle School. She served as Media Specialist and generously coordinated numerous extracurricular activities, including coaching the Lego League team alongside her colleague Brenda Saavedra and leading the National Junior Honor Society.
Julie was a loving and steadfast mother to her daughter Kylie Huff, whom she adored. She enthusiastically supported every interest Kylie pursued, especially ballet and horseback riding. From a young age Julie had a deep love for horses, which she lovingly passed on to her daughter. She was a familiar and devoted presence at horse shows, always ready with her “pit crew bucket” to care for both horse and rider. She also became known for making jello shots during long show weekends. For thirteen years she attended every one of Kylie’s dance performances, including multiple viewings of The Nutcracker, never complaining about the hours spent driving or the many sacrifices she made.
Julie is survived by her daughter Kylie, her siblings Brent (Donna) Hemmerlein, Arthur (Sheri) Hemmerlein, Mickey (George) Roelandts, David (Kristie) Hemmerlein, Terry Filip, and Steve (Bettie) Hemmerlein, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
