Julian Torres ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Hillcrest Funeral Home - Littlefield on Mar. 8, 2026.Julian 'Bambula' Torres, 86, of Littlefield, Texas passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026, in Littlefield, Texas. He was born on July 4, 1939, in Hamlin, Texas to Blasio and Enedina Trevino.Julian was a lifetime Littlefield area resident. He learned the value of hard work through his endeavors growing up with seven siblings. At 18 years old, Julian married Mary Helen Marquez on March 12, 1957. They had nine children and taught each of them to work hard and love one another. Julian was true to his vows in loving and caring for his wife. In 1979, he suffered the loss of Mary Helen. Despite being a widowed father, Julian took pride in never asking for handouts or taking assistance from any resources that were available to him and his children. He loved to tell stories about his work life, especially the jobs of working in cotton fields for many farmers in his young teenage years. He was the true definition of a resilient and independent man.He worked as a foreman at Sudan Central Compress for over thirty years. Julian also took great pride in his contribution to building Loop 289 in Lubbock and the Shallowater overpass. Every callus and blister on his working hands added emphasis to his teachings of what it was to be a man that was a provider and worked without making excuses. Until Julian entered eternal life with the Lord, he was married to Tommie Hernandez. The two married on June 28,1985. Their blended family consisted of Julian's nine children and Tommie's three children. Like many fathers, Julian took joy and comfort in relaxing when all of the work was done and watched the Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs play football. Julian and Tommie's family were blessed and continued to multiply with the addition of thirty-three grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren. Laughing was an effortless task for Julian because his wife and family gave him great joy. Julian loved his family deeply and was happiest when he was surrounded by them. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends. Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Tommie Torres of Littlefield, Texas; three sons, Jodie Torres of Littlefield, Texas, Ricky Torres of Littlefield, Texas, and Adam Torres of Dallas, Texas; five daughters shared with Mary Helen, Josie Torres of San Antonio, Texas, Judy LeFlore of San Antonio, Texas, Jeanne Cordova (Patrick) of Littlefield, Texas, Elena Colaner (William) of Mico, Texas, and Yolanda Phillips (Eric) of San Antonio, Texas; two step-daughters shared with Tommie, Lucinda Perrier of Irwindale, California, and Lillian Martinez of Littlefield, Texas; thirty-three grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Josephine Sanchez of Lubbock, Texas, and Aurelia Koss of Arlington, Virginia.
