Julian Lofton ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Sharkey Funeral Home on Mar. 17, 2026.Julian Lofton, 91 of Summit, MS passed away Monday, March 16, 2026, at his residence in Summit, MS. He was born on May 1, 1934, to Maxie and Audrey Lofton.A private graveside funeral service will be held Thursday, March 19, 2026, at John Felder Memorial Cemetery in Summit, MS. Bro. J.R. McBeth will officiate.Julian was a man whose life was defined by enduring love, unwavering faith, and hands that were rarely still. For 71 beautiful years, he walked side-by-side with his high school sweetheart, building a family and a legacy rooted in steadfast devotion and love. His legendary work ethic was forged early in life, learned from the dusty, demanding days of working alongside mules and crosscut saws. That childhood grit turned him into a true "jack of all trades," he had a reputation for being able to fix absolutely anything-with the notable, and often humorous, exception of the living room TV. Julian worked in the oil field for 25 years. He also ran a dozer service for many years, and his last full-time job was with the Forestry Service cruising timber.Deeply committed to his Christian faith, he loved the Lord with all his heart. He was a pillar of his spiritual community, acting as a charter member and deacon of New Vision Community Church. When he wasn't working or serving, he was an avid coon hunter, finding peace and thrill in the outdoors, listening to the hounds under the night sky.Above all else, his greatest joy was his family. He poured his heart into his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, leaving behind a family tree deeply nourished by his wisdom, his humor, and his unconditional love.He was preceded in death by father, Maxie Leon Lofton; mother, Audrey Brumfield Lofton; brother, Holton Lofton (Carolyn); sister, Nell Rose Cowart (Quentin)Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Felder Lofton; two sons, Steve Lofton (Kenya); Ted Lofton; daughter, Pam Spiers (Ed); six grandsons, Justin Lofton (Angela); Eric Lofton (Amelia); Matthew Lofton (Laura); Jeremy Lofton (Catherine); Jason Spiers; Ryan Spiers (Brittany), ten great-grandchildren, Lillian Lofton; Ezra Lofton; Leah Lofton; Elijah Lofton; Guiles Lofton; Breck Lofton; Edie Lofton; Annie Lofton; Henry Cox; Meris Spiers.Special thanks to the staff of Deaconess Hospice for all your compassion and love.If donations are preferred in lieu of flowers, the family asks that they be made to New Vision Community Church at PO Box 1315 Summit, MS 39666 or Felders Campground Association, Attn: Melissa Decoux 116 Price Street McComb, MS 39648.An online guestbook may be signed at www.sharkeyfuneralhome.comTo plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
