Julia Hogan Hinsdale

Julia Marie Hogan Hinsdale, 98, passed away on March 11, 2026 at her residence, surrounded by those who cherished her most. Born on October 20, 1927 in Orange County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Paul Weldon Hogan, Sr. and Annie Mitchell Hogan. She was the devoted wife of the late Joseph “Joe” Hinsdale, who passed in 2023.

A homemaker and talented seamstress, Julia provided alterations for her community and lovingly created bridesmaids’ dresses, family clothing, and garments for friends. Her greatest joy came from caring for her family, where she poured her gentle spirit and full attention into every relationship. A faithful member of Ireland Street Chapel, she lived out her deep love of the Lord through quiet devotion and service. She found simple pleasures in sewing, gardening, cooking, and baking, often sharing meals and desserts with those she loved.

Julia is survived by her children, Ronnie Hinsdale and his wife Judy, and Donna Hinsdale Hursey and her husband Don; grandchildren Brandon Hinsdale, Kim Faucette and husband Andy, Kenneth Hursey and wife Annie, Kara Wright and husband Larry, and Jonathan Blackard and wife Ashlee; and great-grandchildren Kennedy Faucette, Davis Faucette, Lexie Hinsdale, Mariah Wright, Justus Wright, Edyn Wright, Karis Wright, Tynslee Wright, Paxton Blackard, and Porter Blackard. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Baity, and several dear nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 76 years, Joseph “Joe” Hinsdale; her parents; her brother, Paul Weldon Hogan, Jr.; and her sisters, Katherine VanVynckt and Irene Head. Julia’s legacy of unwavering love, quiet strength, and faithful devotion continues to live on in the family she cherished so deeply.
