Julia H. Glass
May 1, 1944— March 7, 2026
Norristown, PA
Julia H. Glass, 81, of Norristown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026, at Jefferson Einstein Montgomery Hospital, surrounded by her devoted family.
Born on May 1, 1944, on East Susquehanna Avenue in Philadelphia, she was the sixth of seven children born to the late John and Mary (Gorey) Mood. A lifelong Catholic, Julia received her sacraments at Holy Name of Jesus Parish and graduated from the all-girls Kensington High School, where she proudly won an award for her typing skills. She began her career at PMA Insurance, cherishing her daily commute to Center City.
It was at the Adriatic Club, while enjoying a Bacardi and Coke with friends, that she met Walter J. Glass. They fell in love quickly and married within the year. Together they raised their family in the Harrogate section of Philadelphia at St. Joan of Arc Parish, where Julia volunteered at the school and helped run the parish bingo hall. She enjoyed playing Pinochle with Walt and was famously unbeatable at Trivial Pursuit, much to the family’s amusement. After thirty years on Joyce Street, Julia and Walt moved to Norristown. There she continued her caring spirit by volunteering with the Activities Department at Rittenhouse Pine Center, where she formed many cherished friendships.
A devoted Philadelphia sports fan, Julia cheered loudest for the Eagles and the Phillies. Above all, her greatest joy was her family. She never missed an opportunity to speak with pride about her daughters, to praise the talents of her grandchildren, and to delight in her great-grandchildren. She stayed closely connected with her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, always leaving encouraging comments and sharing family photos on social media.
Julia was the loving wife of the late Walter J. Glass for 46 years until his passing in 2013. She is survived by her four daughters, Julie Ann Persicketti and husband Mots, Elizabeth Jolly and husband John Felix, Annemarie Glass and husband Michael Petner, and Mary Kate Nealis and husband Tom; her grandchildren, Jessica (Mike), Nicholas (Jackie), Brendan, Savanna, Charlotte, Juliamarie, Meggie, and Walter; great-grandchildren, Isabella and Lachlan; her sister, Burma Pavidus; sisters-in-law Rosemarie Daniels and Agnes Mood; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Elizabeth, John, James, Mary Ellen, and George.
