Born on January 13th, 1944, in the heart of Antelope Valley, Judy spent her entire life nurturing the community she cherished so deeply. Growing up on a farm on the eastside of town, she embraced the beauty and simplicity of country living, values that shaped her character and outlook throughout her life.Judy graduated from Antelope Valley High School and later pursued her passion for education at Biola University. Her dedication to learning led her to a rewarding career as an educator within both the Lancaster and Eastside School Districts. She touched the lives of countless students and colleagues, sharing her wisdom, kindness, and unwavering support with everyone she encountered.Judy and her beloved husband, Robert Kempel, celebrated 57 wonderful years of marriage together, a partnership built on deep love and respect. She was a devoted mother to Constance, Jennifer, and Andrew, and a caring sister to Becky and Gerry. Her legacy continues through her nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and all those fortunate enough to have known her. Judy was preceded in passing by her parents, Olin and Beatrice, and her brother, Olin James Derrick. She was the kind of person who never forgot a birthday and delighted in sharing thoughtful gifts. Christmas held a special place in Judy's heart; she worked tirelessly to make the season magical not only for her family but also for friends and even strangers. Her talent in the kitchen was especially evident during the holidays, as her famous sugar cookies became a tradition on Christmas and Valentine's Day.The great outdoors brought Judy immense joy. She found solace and a sense of adventure exploring the Sierra Nevada Mountains, creating cherished memories in places like Tehachapi, Bishop, Tom's Place, Mammoth, and June Lake with family and friends. Her hobbies-knitting and crocheting, tackling crossword puzzles, and completing word searches- reflected her thoughtful and contented nature.Judy lived her life guided by her faith and commitment, as a devoted Christian whose radiant smile could light up any room. Her warmth, generosity, and zest for life have left an indelible mark on all of us.Judy will be deeply missed, but her spirit and kindness will continue to inspire us.
