Judith P. Fry
February 13, 1948— March 4, 2026
Marquette, MI
Judith P. “Judy” Fry, age 78, of Marquette, Michigan, passed away on March 4, 2026, at Mill Creek Assisted Living, surrounded by the loving care of her family, UP Home Health, and Hospice.
Born on February 13, 1948, in Munising, Judy was the daughter of John William and Marjorie Anne (Thomas) Scheiding. Raised in Marquette, she graduated from Bishop Baraga High School. On October 9, 1982, she married Samuel Lee Fry, and together they made their home first in Marquette, then in the Dead River Basin—where they created many cherished memories with family and friends—before returning to Marquette.
Judy enjoyed a long career with the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training before retiring. A member of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, she and her husband Sam devoted many years of their retirement to the American Red Cross, providing disaster relief across the country and forming lasting friendships along the way. Above all, Judy was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt whose family was the center of her world.
She is survived by her children, Tammy Lyn Arvon, Gene Norman Tuimala, and Sammy (Lisa) Fry; grandchildren Christopher Tuimala, Ashley (Ethan) Locke, Richard Fry, and Glenn (Ashley) Fry; great-grandchildren Jayce Tuimala, Arabella Locke, Lilly Locke, Henry Fry, and Adalynn Fry; sisters Linda (Dale) DePetro and Cheryl (William) Quayle; brothers William Scheiding and Ronald Scheiding; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Samuel Lee Fry, an infant son, John Todd Tuimala, and her brother Gregory Lee Scheiding.
