Judith “Judie” Lee Vanderbur, 87, of Greensburg, passed away on March 12, 2026, at Morning Breeze. Born on April 27, 1938, in Greensburg, Indiana, she was the daughter of Morris Miller and Marjorie (Creech) Firsich. A graduate of Greensburg Community High School, Judie went on to build a life defined by hard work and genuine connection. She spent many years waitressing and bartending in her family’s cherished establishments—The Cabin Club, The Grill, and The Four Seasons—where her warm personality and steadfast reliability won her lasting friendships.
Above all, Judie cherished her animals, especially the horses she raised and trained with a natural gift for understanding them. She expressed her creativity through painting ceramics, making art, tending her flower beds, and cooking in her kitchen. Her homemade noodles were a beloved family tradition, and her delight in Peeps earned her the endearing nickname “Grandma Peep.”
She is survived by her children, Marjorie Dixon, Maria (Thaddeus) Falarski, Danny Vanderbur, and Diana (Bruce) Swegman; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Judie was preceded in death by her sister, Janice Haskamp; her stepfather, Robert Firsich; sons-in-law Steven Snapp and David Dixon; and her beloved dog, Ruby.
