Concordia, KS
Judith Ann “Judi” Miller, 79, of Concordia, Kansas, passed away on March 8, 2026. She was born on March 13, 1946, in St. Francis, Kansas, to Marion and Betty Miller.
Judi spent her early childhood on the family farm with her parents and younger sister, Gwen, before moving into St. Francis. She began her education in a country school and later graduated from St. Francis High School in 1964. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Education from Hays State College in 1968 and a Master’s Degree in Education in 1971.
For 36 years, Judi taught second and third grades at Lincoln Elementary School in Fredonia, Kansas. She was deeply devoted to her students and took great pride in the lasting impact she made on generations of young lives. After retiring, she found joy in weaving beautiful and practical baskets, spending cherished time with the Chard children—Aiden, Claire, and Grace—and playing games with her close friends in Fredonia. She remained an active member of her community through the Fredonia Teachers Association, KNEA, NEA, the Fredonia Arts Council, Friends of the Library, the Missouri Basketmakers Guild, the Fredonia Regional Hospital Foundation, and the Fredonia Library Foundation.
Judi was diagnosed with ALS in 2023 and later moved to Concordia, where she resided at Sunset Nursing Home. She is survived by her sister, Gwen Miller of Concordia, Kansas, along with cousins and many dear friends she considered family.
