Judith A. Simmons

July 24, 1941 March 11, 2026

Brunswick, OH

Judith “Judy” A. Simmons, 84, of Brunswick, Ohio, passed away suddenly after a brief illness at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital on March 11, 2026. Born in Mansfield, Ohio on July 24, 1941, she was the daughter of Floyd and Pauline Strohminger. Judy left school in tenth grade to help her mother care for her younger siblings. She later married and devoted herself to raising five children.

For more than five decades, Judy was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W. Post 9520 in Brunswick, ultimately becoming a Lifetime Member. She was known for her ready smile and infectious laughter, which could be sparked by even the smallest joke. She enjoyed bowling, watching television—especially “Dr. Pimple Popper”—and, above all, spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. One of her simple pleasures was a large caramel frappe with extra caramel drizzle from McDonald’s, which she savored several times a week.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, James “Ed” Simmons, her daughter Lori (Bayless) Connock, her parents, and her siblings Linda Rodriguez, Patty Blank, Fred Strohminger, and Terry Strohminger.

She is survived by her sons Arthur Bayless of Wooster, Ohio, Bill Bayless of Seville, Ohio, and Harry Bayless of Lorain, Ohio; her daughter Paula Bayless (David Allen) of Shreve, Ohio; her son-in-law Danny Connock; ten grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
