Juanita Honea Marcengill

Juanita Honea Marcengill, age 81, the youngest child of the late Russell J. Honea and Ila Bramlett Honea, passed away on March 12, 2026. Born on June 19, 1944, in Oconee County, she graduated with the last class of Fairplay High School in 1963. Juanita had a keen eye for fashion and, after raising her sons, enjoyed a successful career as a regional buyer and sales associate with The Belk Corporation, from which she retired after 13 years.

She is survived by her sons, Russell D. Marcengill (Diane) of Westminster and L. Duane Marcengill (Letitia) of Westminster; her cherished grandchildren, Brandon D. Marcengill of Westminster, Michelle L. Lavere (Kyle) of West Union, Andrew D. Marcengill (Kaleigh) of Mountain Rest, Ryan A. Marcengill of Asheville, North Carolina, Isaac R. Marcengill of West Union, and W. Cade Marcengill of Westminster; and her great-grandchildren, whom she lovingly called her “babies,” Briar and Knox Lavere of West Union and Millie Marcengill of Mountain Rest. She is also survived by her sister, Helen H. Perry of Seneca, and three beloved nieces, Kathy Gardner, Devilla Hughes, and Rebecca Rice.

Juanita was preceded in death by her brothers, Ralph J. Honea and Chuck Honea, and her sister, Evelyn H. Sosby.
