Juan Islas Godinez, 51, of Newark, NJ passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, at University Hospital surrounded by the care and compassion of those attending to him.
Family and friends are welcome to visit on Thursday, March 19th from 4-8pm in Las Rosas Bannworth Funeral Home, 1055 E. Jersey Street Elizabeth, NJ 07201.
Born in Cuautepec de Hinojosa, Juan was the beloved son of Jesus Rosalio Islas Rios and Maria Isabel Godinez Ortiz. He later made his home in Newark, where he built lasting friendships and became known for his warm personality and welcoming spirit.
Juan was a talented bartender at Spanish Tavern Restaurant, in Newark, NJ where he was admired for his skill, dedication, and the genuine kindness he showed to everyone he met. Through his work, he touched the lives of many patrons and coworkers who will remember him not only for his professionalism but also for his friendly smile and lively conversation.
He was the devoted brother of Facunda Islas Godinez and is also survived by a host of loving relatives and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Juan loved celebrating life with his family and friends. Music was always close to his heart, and he enjoyed gatherings filled with laughter, dancing, and shared moments that created lasting memories.

Nacido en Cuautepec de Hinojosa, Juan fue el querido hijo de Jesús Rosalio Islas Ríos y María Isabel Godínez Ortiz. Más tarde estableció su hogar en Newark, donde formó amistades duraderas y se hizo conocido por su personalidad cálida y su espíritu acogedor.
Juan fue un talentoso bartender en Spanish Tavern Restaurant, donde era admirado por su habilidad, dedicación y la genuina amabilidad que demostraba a todos los que conocía.
