Joyce Ruth Shreve, 93, of Cisne, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Axiom Rehab and Health Care in Flora.
Born on March 13, 1932, in Johnsonville, Illinois, to Fred and Blanche (Vaughn) Pond, Joyce married Lester Gayle Shreve on May 7, 1949, in Wayne City. The couple shared 73 years of marriage until Lester’s passing on March 28, 2022.
Joyce retired from Plainfield Molding Company in Plainfield, Illinois. She and Lester owned and operated J&L Ice Cream Shop in Cisne for 15 years. She found joy in quilting, crocheting, working puzzles and word searches, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Nikki Freeman of Plainfield, Illinois; three sons, Larry (Debbie) Shreve of Leland, Illinois, Doug (Kim) Shreve of Plainfield, Illinois, and Rodney (Beth) Shreve of Cisne, Illinois; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Gayle Shreve; her parents, Fred and Blanche Pond; her siblings, Duane Pond, Dwight Pond, Betty McCord, and Kay Koontz; and her son-in-law, Terry Freeman.
