Joyce Oliver

Joyce Oliver passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026. She was born on April 6, 1941, in Palestine, Texas, to Jessie and Naomi Ferguson.

On August 27, 1956, Joyce married the love of her life, Sammy Oliver. Together they built a life centered around family and shared many years of love until his passing in September 2017. Their marriage was blessed with four children, and Joyce devoted much of her life to caring for and supporting her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Ferguson and Naomi Earl Ferguson; her beloved daughter, Cynthia Hernandez, who passed away in July 2022; her son, Sammy Oliver Jr., who passed away in December 2002; as well as two sisters and one brother.

Joyce leaves behind her daughter Jackie Gul, her daughter Rebecca Urbina and husband Modesto Urbina Sr., three sisters Eleen Barefield, Linda Aguirre, and Glenda Cox, and many cherished grandchildren including Oscar Dewayne Oliver, Romiti Loera, Ariel Rodriguez, Veronica “Sue Emmy” Patrick, Jolene, Wendy, Modesto Urbina Jr., Xavier A. Urbina, Isaac A. Urbina, and Destiny A. Urbina. She was also blessed with numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who will carry her memory in their hearts.
