Joyce Marie Hurst

Joyce Marie Hurst, 83, of Saint Mary, Missouri, passed away on March 10, 2026. Born on January 1, 1943, she lived a life centered on faith, family, and creative service to others.

A devoted member of Immaculate Conception Parish, Joyce served as church organist for more than thirty years. She possessed a deep love of music that she shared generously, especially by nurturing that same passion in all of her children. She looked forward each year to the Christmas Church Tour, where she took great joy in visiting and admiring the beauty of churches during the holiday season. Talented in computers and photography, Joyce created programs and materials for funerals, weddings, and special events, always giving her time and skills to help those around her.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Hurst; her children, Carl (Linda) Hurst, Connie (Kevin) Pinkston, Cheryl Hurst, Catherine (the late Charles “Chuck” Absher) Hurst, Cara (fiancé Paul Laiben) LaRose, and Michael Hurst; her brothers, Allen (Alma) Boyd and Ken (Donna) Boyd; many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Delmar and Doris Boyd, her sister, Wanda Boyd, and her granddaughter, Jessica Renee Barker.

Above all, Joyce dearly loved her grandchildren and treasured every moment spent with them. She also found great joy in the companionship of her dogs. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
