March 23, 1941— March 4, 2026
Strongsville, OH
Joyce M. Stumpf (née Sivik) passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, in Strongsville, Ohio, at the age of 84. Born on March 23, 1941, in Beaverdale, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Michael and Agnes Sivik and the sister of the late Pat Berzansky (John). Throughout her life, Joyce embodied strength, kindness, and deep compassion for others.
She met and married Ronald in Pittsburgh, and together they shared more than 40 years of marriage while raising four children: Keith Stumpf (Suzan), Beth Vavzincak (David), Melissa Miller (Mark), and Lori Samoly (Russ). Joyce found her greatest joy in her role as grandmother to Grace, Rachel, Jesse, Samuel, Hannah, Kaylie, Nicole, Mia, and Peyton, many of whom she helped raise. She remained a steadfast presence in their lives, faithfully attending games, plays, and concerts. She was also blessed with eleven great-grandchildren: Luca, Eli, Arya, Emma, Zoey, Molly, Paxton, Naomi, Teddy, Nova, and Mars.
A dedicated registered nurse, Joyce spent many years at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, where her caring nature and exceptional skill touched countless lives. It was there she formed a lifelong friendship with Carol Saccamano and cared for many memorable patients, including Pittsburgh Steelers owner Art Rooney. She was the person her family always called first in times of illness or injury.
Joyce was a woman of deep faith who attended Mass faithfully for decades at St. John Neumann Church. She enjoyed simple pleasures such as playing cards with friends, reading, sharing breakfast with Ron at Goldie’s Deli, and watching QVC to find special gifts for her loved ones. A true social butterfly, she made friends easily wherever she went. Her life was defined by her devotion to family, friendships, faith, and helping others, leaving a legacy of love that continues through her children and grandchildren.
