Joyce M Oppie

Joyce M. Gidion Oppie was born on January 29, 1936, in Mabton, Washington. She attended Mabton schools and graduated from Mabton High School, where she was elected the very first Miss Mabton.

She passed away on March 6, 2026, at Amber Hills in Prosser, where she had made her home following the deaths of her daughter, Jeri Rome, and son-in-law, Lee Rome, both from cancer. Joyce was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Gidion and Barry Oppie; her parents, Marjorie and Floyd Riggs; and her siblings, Eddie Riggs, Jack Riggs, Barbara McBain, and Janie Barton.

She is survived by her siblings Jerry and Annette Riggs, Mel and Joan Riggs, Donna and Ron Voss, Gloria and Ric Rabe, Judy and Mike Fritsche, and Vera and Fred Zavala.

The family is grateful for the care Joyce received at Amber Hills.
