Georgetown, KY
Joyce Huddleston Davis was born on March 31, 1931, in Covington, Kentucky, and passed away on March 7, 2026, at the age of 94. Preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Robert “Bob” McCue Davis, her son, Bradley Robert Davis, and her sister, Charlotte Huddleston Luecke Scholl, she is survived by her daughter, Cindy Davis VanHoose and son-in-law Gary; grandchildren Stephen Davis and wife Allison, Andrea Davis Gaydon and husband Jay, Caroline Davis Van Dora and husband Jeremiah, and Lara VanHoose Kirkland and husband Cody; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and others she lovingly called family.
A graduate of Highlands High School in Fort Thomas, Kentucky, Joyce enrolled at Georgetown College in 1950, where she thrived as a cheerleader and active member of Kappa Delta sorority. It was there she met her husband, Coach Robert “Bob” Davis, and they married on June 14, 1952. As Bob served as head basketball and football coach at Georgetown College and later as head men’s basketball coach at Auburn University, Joyce devoted more than two decades to the role of coach’s wife. She poured her energy and affection into supporting student development, the colleges, and the communities they called home.
In 1981, Joyce began a cherished new chapter as “Mimi,” nurturing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with warmth and devotion for more than four decades. Known for her natural compassion, she touched countless lives with kindness and unconditional love. Deeply grateful for God’s blessings, she lived with an open heart, sharing that grace with everyone she encountered.
